  3. Dry sump - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dry_sump

The dry-sump system uses two or more oil pumps and a separate oil reservoir, as opposed to a conventional wet-sump system, which uses only the main sump (U.S.: oil pan) below the engine and a single pump. A dry-sump engine requires a pressure relief valve to regulate negative pressure inside the engine, so internal seals are not inverted.

Gearbox at the front end of the crankshaft to drive the propeller at fewer revolutions per minute than the engine, normally aspirated with fuel injection, dry sump engine built specifically for the Aero Commander 560F TIGO-540 Turbo-charged, injected and geared IGSO-540

  5. Mercedes-Benz M156 engine - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_M156_engine

Compared to the standard AMG engine, the SLS's engine includes an all-new intake system, reworked valvetrain and camshafts, the use of flow-optimised tubular steel headers and dethrottling of the exhaust system. The engine also utilizes a dry-sump lubrication system to lower the center of gravity of the car. [3]

  6. Oil pump (internal combustion engine) - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oil_pump_(internal...

It is generally located inside the lower part of the engine, usually below and/or to one side of the crankshaft. On dry sump engines, at least two oil pumps are required: one to pressurize and distribute the oil around the engine components, and at least one other 'scavenge pump' to evacuate the oil which has pooled at the bottom of the engine. [9]

  7. Rotax 912 - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotax_912

Lubrication is dry sump, and fuelling is via dual CV carburetors or fully redundant electronic fuel injection. The electronic fuel injected Rotax 912iS is a recent development. [5] The 912's lubrication system differs from most dry-sump designs in that oil is forced into the storage tank by crankcase pressure rather than by a separate scavenge ...

  8. TVR Speed Six engine - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TVR_Speed_Six_engine

The engine's prototypes (referred to as AJP-6) were designed and delivered by independent engineer Al Melling (the "A" in AJP) as both 3.0 and 3.5 litre units. [5] Many of its key cylinder head design elements (particularly the valvetrain ) were first seen in the 1991 Suzuki GSX-R750 (M) motorcycle engine (also a Melling design).
