In the Bible outside of Genesis, the term "tree of life" appears in Proverbs (3:18; 11:30; 13:12; 15:4) and Revelation (2:7; 22:2,14,19). It also appears in 2 Esdras and 4 Maccabees , which are included among the Jewish apocrypha. According to the Greek Apocalypse of Moses, the tree of life is also called the Tree of Mercy.
At Gen 2:7 nephesh is used as description of man. Job 12:7–10 parallels the words רוח and נפׁש (nephesh): “In His hand is the life (nephesh) of every living thing and the spirit (ruah) of every human being.” The Hebrew term nephesh chayyah is often translated "living soul". Milcah (Hebrew: מִלְכָּה Mīlkā, related to the Hebrew word for "queen") was the daughter of Haran and the wife of Nahor, according to the genealogies of Genesis. She is identified as the mother of Bethuel and grandmother of Rebecca and Laban in biblical tradition, and some texts of the Midrash have identified her as Sarah ' s sister.
