For movie watching comfort is king. The same attributes for music will also apply for movie watching though, depth of sound and the width of the soundstage very important. Open backs are going to be better for this and if I watch movies of TV late at night then my open backs should be the go to option but I'm just as happy with my closed backs ...
I don't mean watching on a mobile phone or tablet, but on a large screen 4K TV but with headphones instead of a surround system. With my TV in the living room I cannot imagine using a 5.1 surround system when I watch movies late at night in my small apartment. I am currently using Sennheiser RF185 headphones, quite decent quality.
What is the best APTX-LL Headphones for watching movies in 2023? Factors that matter Comfort Sound Quality Low Latency Quality Price is not a factor I understand 2.4Ghz is a better option for movies specifically, however the base is typically too big and odd shaped. I need a small form...
The best headphones for movies are virtual surround sound - that's why none of them specify 5.1/7.1 (except the Sony MDR-HW700 which specifies 9.1, but I understand even that is virtual surround sound). I expect to be able to plug the Beyerdynamic DT990 directly into the headphones socket of the Yamaha receiver. I do not expect to need an amp.
So I'm having to compromise and concede that as it would most likely be myself of an evening watching movies, headphones would be the best bet, to not only save the neighbours eardrums, but the wife and child upstairs too. I have to confess, I'm not great when it comes to understanding half the tech with headphones. Open-back, closed-cup.
From my experience what I miss when watching movie content on headphones is the LFE output. I think LFE output is sent down the 2-ch mix, it's just that most headphones aren't that good at reproducing this content. This one of the reasons I have opted to buy some large planar driver headphones.
Below are some headphones suitable for movies to consider: Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 - Open back full size headphones. Very comfortable fit, light weight (despite size) and soft earpads. Excellent treble clarity, good instrument separation and wide soundstage.
Quick question what headphones would you recommend? I mainly watch TV shows and movies on my iPad during my daily commute and just wanted your advice. I'm looking for good sound quality ideally with noise cancelling or isolation. I will listen to music on my iPhone from time to time. My options so far are: Bose qc15
I use Px8 and Bathys for night movie watching in a separate room (so open back is not an issue). If you are in the same room as the baby, you will want closed back types. I would recommend Sony MDR-Z7, extremely comfortable, semi-closed back but sound like open back with a huge soundstage for movies. Only issue is that they are wired.
I plan on getting the Astro mixamp within the week and so I'm looking for the best headphones for both gaming and watching movies on the PS3/Xbox360. From what I have read, I understand the AD900 are supposed to be very good headphones but could someone please recommend hi end headphones that the mixamp could happily power.
