Imogene Coca was one of network television's first comics. She starred in an early ABC series, Buzzy Wuzzy, which lasted four episodes in 1948. [7] She played opposite Sid Caesar on The Admiral Broadway Revue (January to June 1949), and then in the sketch comedy program Your Show of Shows (1950 to 1954), which was immensely popular, winning the Emmy for Outstanding Variety Series in 1952 and 1953.
Ain't Misbehavin' is a musical revue with a book by Murray Horwitz and Richard Maltby Jr., and music by various composers and lyricists as arranged and orchestrated by Luther Henderson. It is named after the song by Fats Waller (with Harry Brooks and Andy Razaf ), " Ain't Misbehavin' ".
The revue subsequently had a short-lived National tour which starred Carol Channing and Robert Morse, from August through November 1980. [1] [2] The 1982 Bus and Truck Tour starred Eddie Bracken and Jaye P. Morgan (who was succeeded by Mimi Hines). [3] The 2nd National Tour, in 1984 and 1985, reunited Rooney and Miller. [4] [5]
The revue’s title may have a familiar ring to many: it’s a rehashed version of the popular “Broadway Comes to Northside,” which showcased at the Homer J. Walker Civic Center in 1987.
