So, this is complicated. :) Dornberger's book talks about the flight but doesn't say when it was. The other reference suggests it was in 1944. That said, now that I've found a better reference for the actual flight, I've fixed it. "began development of their own heavy sounding rocket" I think that should be "its own heavy sounding"
