Cathedral High School was founded by Archbishop John Joseph Cantwell as the first Los Angeles Archdiocesan high school for boys in Fall 1925. [3] The school was built on the site of old Calvary Cemetery, where leading families of Los Angeles were buried until relocated at the turn of the 20th century. Pope Francis Preparatory School is a Catholic co-educational college-preparatory high school in Springfield, Massachusetts. The school was originally opened as Cathedral High School in 1883 by the Sisters of Saint Joseph at St. Michael's Cathedral. In 2011, the school's building was destroyed by a tornado. [2]

In 1967, Cathedral College of the Immaculate Conception converted to a four-year college seminary and moved to Douglaston, New York. The Queens and Brooklyn campuses of Cathedral Preparatory Seminary were separated from the college. Both campuses continued as four-year high school programs, operated by the Diocese of Brooklyn. [4]
The schools were re-organized into the Cathedral Boys' School, the Cathedral Girls' School, and the John Connon School. Today the old boys' school is used as the Senior School; the old girls' school is the Middle School; and the John Connon School is the Junior School. The Infant School, located at Malabar Hill, was set up in 1965. [10]
