George F. Cahill Jr. (July 7, 1927 – July 30, 2012) was an American scientist who significantly advanced the diabetes mellitus research of the 20th century. [1] He focused on metabolic research, especially concerning human glucose metabolism in diabetic and normal conditions; he also investigated the effect of hunger and fasting on metabolic pathways and ketose processes.
King has been affiliated with Joslin and Harvard since 1981. [3] He was elected to The American Society for Clinical Investigation in 1986. [8] He has published over 350 scientific papers, which have been cited nearly 100 thousand times. [9] These articles mostly correspond to topics in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology and Diabetes Mellitus.
He joined Harvard Medical School to work with William Aird, Victor J Dzau, and Morris F. White in studies of cardiovascular biology and diabetes mellitus from 2001 to 2008. He was hired at Texas A&M University as an assistant professor in the department of medicine in 2009 and was appointed to associate professor in 2015.

This disease affects the glucose levels in the body by causing them to rise higher than normal. In type II diabetic patients, the body develops insulin resistance that initiates an increase in blood glucose levels. [1]

Elliott Proctor Joslin (June 6, 1869 – January 28, 1962) was the first medical doctor in the United States to specialize in diabetes and was the founder of the present-day Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, Massachusetts.
