Poet Emily Dickinson was born and lived most of her life in Amherst, Massachusetts. The Emily Dickinson Museum is located in her family home less than a mile from the Jones Library's main location. Charles Green, the first director of the library, was a Dickinson scholar and began building a collection of her works in 1924.
