The tournament was founded by Travis Creed, a bank executive from Pine Bluff, in 1982. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] Once considered to be the most prestigious high school tournament in the nation, the King Cotton games were played at the 7,500-seat Pine Bluff Convention Center , and attracted top-ranked high school teams from around the country.

The 2011 Sun Belt Conference men's basketball tournament was held in Hot Springs, Arkansas from March 5 to March 8 at the Summit Arena and the Convention Center Court. All 12 Sun Belt teams participated in the tournament and their seedings are based on their conference record.
