Oakwood Historic District is a national historic district located at Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina.It includes work designed by architects Wheeler & Stearn.It encompasses 50 contributing buildings, 1 contributing site (Oakwood Cemetery), and 1 contributing structure in an upscale residential section of Hickory.
Propst House is a historic home located in Hickory, Catawba County, North Carolina.Built in 1881, and is a 1 + 1 ⁄ 2 –story, Second Empire style frame dwelling. It has a mansard roof, a square mansard tower, and interesting wooden ornament.

Hickory owes its name to the Hickory Tavern, a log structure built in the 1850s underneath a hickory tree. Henry Link bought the first lot in the area for $45 in 1858. The house he built was later adapted as The 1859 Cafe, a restaurant which closed in 2011. [8] The first train operated near Hickory Tavern in 1859.

In 1972, Hickory High School moved to its current location of 1234 3rd Street NE. The Hickory Board of Education agreed to officially name the new school building its original name once again, Hickory High School. Hickory High is currently classified as a NCHSAA 3A high school. It is the largest school within the Hickory City School district.
Engine House No. 6, also known as the East Franklinton Engine House, is a former Columbus Fire Department station in the East Franklinton neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio. The building was constructed in 1892, designed in the Romanesque Revival style by John Flynn. The station was decommissioned in 1966, and served as an electronics store from ...
