Despite the research I've done, I'm still curious if anyone could comment on the differences I might see in trajectory between the two calibers out to about 300 yards given the following options: 11.5" Barrel shooting 62gr 5.56 (TSX, Gold-Dot/Fusion) vs. 10.5" barrel shooting 110gr 300 Blackout?

Alliant does have load data for bullets heavier than 55 grains with Power Pro Varmint but does have 68 and 69 grain bullet data for Power Pro 2000 MR that looks a lot like the Hornady PP Varmint data.

  5. 5.7 vs 5.56 - m4carbine.net

    www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?178570-5-7-vs-5-56

Unfortunately you may HAVE to put more rounds in the threat due to the lack of damage the projectile causes. The 5.56 is far more effective at getting the attention of men than 5.7 mm. This is not speculation. We have been using 30 P90's for five years now. There have been multiple BG's shot with them.

  9. ACOG TA31RCO-M4 BDC Reticle in MIL or MOA??? - M4Carbine.net

    www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?69798-ACOG-TA31RCO-M4-BDC-Reticle-in-MIL-or-MOA

Feedback Score. 28 (100%) The elevation and deflection adjustments are in inches per meter. The BDC itself is neither, it is based on 19" at 100 meter intervals with the intervals in accord with trajectory. You can backward engineer the reticle into Mil or MOA if you want to, but it's kinda pointless.

11.5+” barrel, 556 when possible If you need to go below 10”, 300 offers better ballistics, and adds subsonic capability. Once I build a 300, its to bridge the gap between an 11.5/10.3 556 and a 9mm subgun or handgun. As with anything else, there are inherent limitations, and personal limitations.

Feedback Score. 13 (100%) Highly accurate 77gr loads, barrel twist limits. My M&P15 16" barrel is 1 in 9" twist and I'm wanting to load some highly accurate 223/5.56 rounds that will push 500 yds. I'm thinking of going with a 77gr bullet, but I'm afraid the 1/9 twist won't stabilize the bullet enough to be as accurate as I want at this distance ...
