Prior to joining the City University of New York, El-Mohandes was a founding faculty member of the George Washington University (GWU) School of Public Health and Health Services, now known as the Milken Institute School of Public Health, where he served as associate dean for research and later, chair of the Department of Prevention and Community Health.
