Union University was established in 1875 in a consolidation of Southwestern Baptist College at Murfreesboro and West Tennessee College at Jackson. In 1907, T. T. Eaton, a trustee of Southwestern Baptist University, left his 6,000 volume library to the college.

Rothrock Stadium is a stadium in Jackson, Tennessee.It is primarily used for American football, and is the home field of Lane College. [1] Built in the 1930s, it originally served as the home field of the Union University Bulldogs, until Union ended its football program in the early 1950s.

Stephen Douglas Carls is University Professor Emeritus of History at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. Carls began teaching at Union in 1983 and taught there until his retirement in 2023.
