The First Avenue School is a former public school building in the Harrison West neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio.It was listed on the Columbus Register of Historic Properties in 1983, and was listed as part of the Near Northside Historic District, on the National Register of Historic Places, in 1980. Harrison West was established in the late 1800s and early 1900s on farmland that was first plowed by veterans of the Revolutionary War. It features "brick streets, housing built by craftsmen for workers in nearby factories, and fine examples of turn-of-the-century American town planning and architecture."

The Joshua Bates School is a historic school building at 731 Harrison Avenue in the South End neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. The 2 + 1 ⁄ 2-story Romanesque Revival brick building was designed by Arthur H. Vinal and built in 1884. It was named for financier and major benefactor of the Boston Public Library Joshua Bates. [2]
