On 22 September 2007 a decision was reached obliging the AB SAT package to provide the public service channels France 2, France 3, France 4 and France 5 as well as Arte, LCP and TV5 Monde. On 24 October 2007, the channels France3 sat, France4, France5, France O and LCP arrived in the Absat package. At the end of November TF1 also arrived.

Télévision Par Satellite (French: [televizjɔ̃ paʁ satɛlit]; TPS) was a French company that offered subscription television packages via satellite. It was created in 1996 by Eutelsat and Arte , soon joined by the TF1 Group , the M6 Group , France Télévisions , RTL Group , France Telecom and Suez Environnement .
Eutelsat was the first satellite operator in Europe to broadcast television channels direct-to-home. It developed its premium neighbourhood of five Hot Bird satellites in the mid-1990s to offer capacity that would be able to attract hundreds of channels to the same orbital location, appealing to wider audiences for consumer satellite TV.
