San Jose Island [1] or San José Island (also known as Saint Joseph Island) is a barrier island on the Gulf Coast of Texas in the United States. 21 miles (34 km) long and 5 miles (8.0 km) wide. The island is oriented generally northeast-southwest, with the Gulf of Mexico on the east and south, Aransas Bay on the west, and Mesquite Bay on the north.
