Yellow music (nhạc vàng) refers to music produced in South Vietnam during the Vietnam War, named in opposition to red music (nhạc đỏ) endorsed by the socialist government of North Vietnam during the era of the Vietnamese War. Oftentimes, yellow music is also referred to like new music (tân nhạc), or sugary music (nhạc sến).

Red music (Nhạc đỏ) is the common name of the revolutionary music (nhạc cách mạng) genre in Vietnam. This genre of music began soon after the beginning of the 20th century during the French colonial period, advocating for independence, socialism and anti-colonialism.
Duy Tan was more popular than Emperor Bảo Đại and ranked higher in the genealogy of the Nguyễn Phúc clan. [5] Bảo Đại's pro-Vichy government attempted to head off a claim to the throne by Georges by treating him as illegitimate. In 1946, a French court sided with Georges and declared him to be a legitimate son of Duy Tan. [4]
