Muḥammad ʿAbduh (also spelled Mohammed Abduh; Arabic: محمد عبده; 1849 – 11 July 1905) was an Egyptian Islamic scholar, [5] judge, [5] and Grand Mufti of Egypt. [1] [2] [29] [30] He was a central figure of the Arab Nahḍa and Islamic Modernism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Tafsir al-Mazhari (Arabic: تفسير المظهري) is a 13th-century AH tafsir of the Qur'an, written by the Sunni Islamic scholar Qadi Thanaullah Panipati. The tafsir was published by Nadwatul Musannifeen. [1] [2] A Sunni site, quranicstudies.com, explains: This was written by Qadi Thanaullah Panipati (died 1225 Hijrah).
He graduated from Al-Azhar's faculty of religious studies in 1958 and went on to teach. In 1966, he was awarded a PhD in Hadith and Tafsir, exegesis of the Qur'an. [ 1 ] He became a member of the faculty of Ausol Aldeen in 1968 and a member of the faculty of Arabic & Islamic Studies at the Islamic University of Libya in 1972.
Sheikh Mahmoud Shaltut (Arabic: محمود شلتوت; 23 April 1893 – 13 December 1963) was an Egyptian figure best known for his attempts in Islamic reform. A disciple of Mohammad Abduh's school of thought, Shaltut rose to prominence as Grand Imam of Al-Azhar during the Nasser years from 1958 until his death in 1963.

Salih al-Ja'fari (1910–1979) (Arabic: صالح الجعفري) was a Sufi scholar, who lived and taught in Cairo, Egypt. He was officially appointed as a teacher at the al-Azhar Mosque in 1946 by the Grand Shaykh of the Azhar at the time, though he had been teaching there without an official appointment for more than a decade, and continued to teach there until his death in 1399 AH/1979 CE.
