Prairie Township is one of twelve townships in Warren County, Indiana, United States. According to the 2020 census , its population was 230 and it contained 110 housing units; [ 2 ] the population density is the lowest of any township in the county, at 6.1 inhabitants per square mile (2.4/km 2 ).

A post office was established at Holmesville in 1854, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1895. [3] Holmesville was platted in 1855 by Hiram Holmes, and named for him. [ 4 ]
Prior to 1849, Prairie Township was larger than it is today. The western half of Liberty Township was located in Prairie Township. [ 6 ] [ 7 ] According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of 39.69 square miles (102.8 km 2 ), all land.
