Geralt of Rivia (Polish: Geralt z Rivii) is a fictional character and the protagonist of The Witcher series of short stories and novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. He is a magically enhanced monster-hunter known as a "witcher", who possesses supernatural abilities due to his mutations.
While Geralt is in Rivia meeting his friends Yarpen Zigren and Zoltan Chivay, a riot and pogrom erupts with humans killing non-humans. Geralt fights to save his dwarven friends, but is impaled on a pitchfork. Yennefer and Triss Merigold conjure a storm to disperse the rioters, but they and Ciri find Geralt on the verge of death.
Dandelion accompanies Geralt in many of the short stories and ends up joining Geralt's hansa while searching for Ciri but left it before the assault on Stygga. Dandelion makes Geralt promise he would return with Ciri at Touissant where Dandelion lives. He would later rejoin Geralt and witness his and Yennefer's death at Rivia.
