Leisure World is a gated, 55+ adult age restricted community [1] located on a county island, in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States. The community is sovereign to, and surrounded by, the city of Mesa. Established in 1973, the community consists of nearly 500 condominiums and over 2100 single family residences (2,664 homes total). Anthem was developed by Del Webb in 1998 as a master-planned community in the foothills approximately 30 miles (48 km) north of downtown Phoenix. The house is the former residence of Harry E. Pierce. Pierce served as County Assessor during the 1920s, was secretary to Governor John C. Phillips from 1929 until 1932, and was chairperson of the Maricopa County Republican Central Committee. In addition to his political activities, Pierce was a partner in the real estate firm of Jacobs & Pierce.
