Bangladesh National Nutrition Council (BNNC) is an government body under ministry of Health and Family Welfare is an apex body for multisectoral coordination planning, monitoring, advocacy for nutrition and to formulate National Food and Nutrition Policy in Bangladesh and is located in IPH Building, Mohakhali, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
It is also responsible for all government programs relating to family planning in Bangladesh. The present adviser is Nurjahan Begum. [ 3 ] The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare contains two divisions: [ 4 ] [ 5 ] Health Services Division and Medical Education And Family Welfare Division .
The board was further reorganized and re-branded to Bangladesh Institute of Research and Training on Applied Nutrition on 19 June 2012. On 1 July 2021, BIRTAN has been shifted to its own campus of 100 acres at Bishnandi, Araihazar, Narayanganj. Now BIRTAN is a well known government organization in Bangladesh. [4] [5]
