Delaware is a city in and the county seat of Delaware County, Ohio, United States. [4] It is located near the center of Ohio, about 30 miles (48 km) north of Columbus as part of the Columbus metropolitan area. The population was 41,302 at the 2020 census. [5] Delaware was founded in 1808 and was incorporated in 1816.
As of the census [4] of 2000, there were 1,737 people, 682 households, and 553 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 1,081.8 inhabitants per square mile (417.7/km 2).

Orange Township has many parks, including an aquatic center that has a leisure pool with a kids area, water slides and a lap pool. Alum Creek State Park is also located within Orange Township, with access to boating, beach area and walking paths.
It was named for Hon. Robert Porter, a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, who received from President John Adams a land grant in Delaware County. [ 4 ] Statewide, the only other Porter Township is located in Scioto County .
