The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) is a state government agency which is a part of the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs that functions as the central coordinating point for Michigan veterans, connecting those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, and their families, to services and benefits throughout the state.
In 1997, the department was renamed the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs by Executive Order. [2] In 2005 by Governor's Executive Order, the State Military Board was abolished with duties transfer to the department with the Governor's approval authority over the Military Board was transferred to the State Administrative Board.
