The largest crowd in the 64-year history of Eldora Speedway experiences the 47th running of the World 100 on September 9, 2017. The World 100 is a 100-lap dirt late model race, and is considered one of the most prolific racing events of each season. It is traditionally run on the weekend following Labor Day in mid September.
Eldora is located within the Roosevelt National Forest, and is primarily an alpine, densely forested, and densely but smally populated area. Eldora is tucked into the valley carved by glaciation during the last ice age and by Middle Boulder Creek. From the village there are no views up toward the alpine ski runs of Eldora Mountain Resort. The 2023 schedule featured Stafford and Eldora, but also featured new tracks Motor Mile Speedway, Berlin Raceway and Lucas Oil Speedway. Thunder Road SpeedBowl was originally part of the 2023 schedule but due to flooding in the area the track was given a 2024 date, and was joined by Berlin, Stafford, Slinger and new track Cedar Lake Speedway.
