Goku still remains under the foot of Cumber, struggling to get free but is them seemingly crushed. However, Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan Blue and throws Cumber's foot off of him. Charging directly towards Cumber, Goku uses the Super Saiyan Blue Kaio-ken x20 and strikes Cumber in the face though he is unmoved.
After moving to a new battleground, the two remaining Saiyans begin their epic battle. However, Vegeta is much more powerful than Nappa was, and Goku eventually realizes that even the two-times Kaio-ken isn't enough to defeat his opponent. He then decides to break his promise to King Kai and risk his own life to use the three-times Kaio-ken.
Goku has entered the battlefield stronger than ever and prepares to fight Frieza alone. It seems that Goku might become a Super Saiyan, as he easily deflects Frieza's energy attacks. As Vegeta taunts Frieza, claiming that Goku is the "real Super Saiyan", the tyrant easily finishes him with an energy beam to the heart and a cruel bout of laughter.
Goku and Vegeta pour all of their energy into this attack, and after a long struggle, Vegeta's blast is pushing Goku's back, even with Goku using the Kaio-ken x3 attack. With no choice left, Goku uses a Kaio-ken x4 attack, and with the extra power, he is able to blast Vegeta into space.
Vegeta fights Goku and is severely beaten by Goku's Kaioken technique, forcing him to resort to his Ozaru form to overpower Goku, the first time he has ever transformed in single combat, but he is unable to beat the rest of the heroes due to his sustained injuries from Goku, Gohan, Krillin and Yajirobe. Goku later names his first son Gohan in his grandfather's honor. In the anime, he later appears as an assistant to Annin (アンニン), the ruler of the "magical furnace". He is voiced by Osamu Saka in the Japanese version of the original series, Kinpei Azusa in Bardock: The Father of Goku, and Shigeru Chiba in Dragon Ball Kai.
As Goku powers up in rage after learning they had killed his allies Yamcha, Tenshinhan, Chaozu, and Piccolo right before his arrival, Vegeta senses an explosive increase in his power level through his scouter device. In response to Nappa's query about Goku's power level, Vegeta yells: "It's over nine thousand!", crushing his scouter in his fist.

With a single blow to the gut, he puts Recoome out of commission. Goku's training at 100x normal gravity has exponentially increased his strength.
