Bob Geldof has defended the Band Aid 40 charity single release following backlash from several artists.
At a press conference on 10 November 2014, Geldof and Ure announced that another group of artists would come together to record the song, this time under the banner of Band Aid 30 and in aid of the Ebola crisis. The 2014 version was recorded on Saturday 15 November 2014 and released on the following Monday, 17 November.
Three re-recordings of the song to raise further money for charity also topped the charts, first the Band Aid II version in 1989, the Band Aid 20 version in 2004 and finally the Band Aid 30 version in 2014.
