The Colby Mules (formerly known as the White Mules prior to 2002) are the varsity and club athletic teams of Colby College, a liberal arts college located in Waterville, Maine. Colby's varsity teams compete in the New England Small College Athletic Conference of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III .
The Colby Mules women's ice hockey program represents Colby College. The team used to compete in the ECAC. Currently, the club is a member of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC). The Mules were one of only two non-Division I schools at the time in the 12-team Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Colby opened the season on the road, facing down two-time defending state champion Bowdoin. Defying prediction, the Mules took control of the game form the start and barely allowed the home team an opening. The offense looked far better than it had a year before, scoring once per period, but it was on the defensive side that Colby raised eyebrows.

In 2004, Michaeles was hired as the offensive coordinator for Colby under first-year head coach Ed Mestieri. [2] When Mestieri resigned following the 2011 season, Michaeles was named interim head coach. [5] He was promoted to full-time head coach before the 2012 season. [1]
