Hennepin County (/ ˈ h ɛ n ə p ɪ n / HEN-ə-pin) is a county in the U.S. state of Minnesota.Its county seat is Minneapolis, [2] the state's most populous city. [3] The county is named for the 17th-century explorer Louis Hennepin. [4]
MN 62 serves as an east–west route between Eden Prairie, Minnetonka, Edina, Richfield, Minneapolis, Fort Snelling, Mendota Heights and Inver Grove Heights. The route is constructed to freeway standards for most of its length, except for the western 1 ⁄ 2 mile (0.80 km), which is an expressway with two signal-controlled intersections.
Besides Minneapolis, major cities in the district include Brooklyn Center, St. Louis Park, Richfield, Crystal, Robbinsdale, Golden Valley, New Hope, Fridley, and a small portion of Edina. It was created in 1883, and was nicknamed the "Bloody Fifth" on account of its first election. [6]
