Gainesboro (/ ˈ ɡ eɪ n z b ʌ r ə /) is a town in and the county seat of Jackson County, Tennessee, United States. [7] The population was 920 at the 2020 census. Gainesboro is part of the Cookeville, Tennessee Micropolitan Statistical Area.
The 2023 Jackson mayoral election was held on May 2, 2023, and on June 13, 2023 (as a runoff), to elect the mayor of Jackson. Incumbent Independent Mayor Scott Conger won re-election in the runoff with 58.11% of the vote [12] [13] This two-round election took place alongside other 2023 Jackson elections, including races for City Council. Jackson State's first president was F.E. Wright, who served from 1967 until his death in 1976. Walter L. Nelms was president of the college for 21 years, until his retirement in 1997. He was succeeded by Charlie Delmer Roberts Jr., who served at Jackson State until 2004, when Bruce Blanding became the college's fourth president. [ 2 ]
