The Mansfield Metropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is an area consisting of one county – Richland – in north central Ohio, anchored by the city of Mansfield. As of the 2020 census, the MSA had a population of 124,936. The MSA forms the eastern half of the Mansfield–Ashland–Bucyrus, OH CSA.
The Mansfield–Ashland–Bucyrus, OH Combined Statistical Area is a CSA in the U.S. state of Ohio, as defined by the United States Census Bureau.It consists of the Mansfield Metropolitan Statistical Area (Richland County); and the Bucyrus–Galion Micropolitan Statistical Area (Crawford County), and, since 2020, the Ashland Micropolitan Statistical Area (Ashland County). [1]
Jefferson County was organized on July 29, 1797, by proclamation of Governor Arthur St. Clair, six years before Ohio was granted statehood. Its boundaries were originally quite large, including all of northeastern Ohio east of the Cuyahoga River, but it was divided and redrawn several times before assuming its present-day boundaries in 1833, after the formation of neighboring Carroll County.
