Every passenger train has a doctor. A Passenger Health Registration Card is required to take the train between Golmud and Lhasa. The card can be obtained when purchasing the ticket. Passengers must read the health notice for high-elevation travel and sign the agreement on the card to take the train.

Inside Lhasa–Shigatse railway train. The line was a spur line of the Qinghai–Tibet railway. The length of the railway is 253 km (157 mi). [2] Construction began in September 2010 and was connected to the Qinghai–Tibet Railway in May 2013. The line was completed in July 2014 and opened for commercial operations on August 16, 2014.
On 25 June 2021, the railway began operation, with the first train leaving Lhasa for Nyingchi at 10.30 am. Compared with roads, the railway reduces the travel time from Lhasa to Nyingchi from 5 hours to 3.5 hours, and cuts the travel time from Shannan to Nyingchi from 6 hours to more than 2 hours. [2]
International travelers will have their Tibet entry letters checked at airports, railway stations, and road checkpoints. Upon entering Tibet, these letters will be handed over to the group guide for safekeeping. At the end of the trip, the travel agency will return the letter to the TAR Tourism Bureau for filing.
