para-Methoxyamphetamine (PMA), also known as 4-methoxyamphetamine (4-MA), is a designer drug of the amphetamine class with serotonergic effects. [2] [3] [4] Unlike other similar drugs of this family, PMA does not produce stimulant, euphoriant, or entactogen effects, [5] and behaves more like an antidepressant in comparison, [6] though it does have some psychedelic properties.
In addition to its MRA activity, PMMA is a potent monoamine oxidase A (MAO-A) inhibitor. [8] Its IC 50 Tooltip half-maximal inhibitory concentration for MAO-A inhibition has been reported to be 1,700 nM. [8] This is several-fold less potent than the related agents para-methoxyamphetamine (PMA) and 4-methylthioamphetamine (4-MTA). [8]
para-Methoxy ethyl amphetamine (PMEA), is a stimulant drug related to PMA. PMEA reputedly produces similar effects to PMA, but is considerably less potent [1] and seems to have slightly less tendency to produce severe hyperthermia, at least at low doses. At higher doses however the side effects and danger of death approach those of PMA itself ...
Substituted amphetamines, or simply amphetamines, are a class of compounds based upon the amphetamine structure; [1] it includes all derivative compounds which are formed by replacing, or substituting, one or more hydrogen atoms in the amphetamine core structure with substituents.
[1] [13] It produces gepefrine (3-hydroxyamphetamine), a sympathomimetic agent, as one of its major metabolites. [14] 3-MA has appeared on the illicit market as a designer drug alternative to MDMA similarly PMA, although far more rarely than its infamous positional isomer. [15] The 2-aminoindane analogue of 3-MA is 5-methoxy-2-aminoindane (MEAI ...
To become certified to prescribe buprenorphine, doctors have to first complete a one-day training class on addiction medicine. Then, for the first year of prescribing buprenorphine, certified doctors are limited to accepting only 30 patients with opioid addiction at any one time. They can move up to 100 patients in their second year of prescribing.
These masculinity norms exert a toll on everyone, even their perpetrators. Feminine gay men are at higher risk of suicide, loneliness and mental illness. Masculine gay men, for their part, are more anxious, have more risky sex and use drugs and tobacco with greater frequency. One study investigating why living in the gay community increases ...
