The person currently entitled to hold the title is Nevinson Mark de Courcy, who was born in 1958 and lives in Remuera, Auckland, New Zealand. He is or would be the 31st (or 36th) Baron, however, his name does not appear in the current Roll of the Peerage.
In contrast to the English equivalent, the dignity of baron is a non-peerage rank in the Baronage of Scotland, created in the same way as a peerage with crown charter and is protected by the Abolition of Feudal Tenure etc. (Scotland) Act 2000 recognised by the crown as a title of nobility with status of minor baron.

He was superintendent general to the Society of British Fishery and a Fellow of the Society of Arts and Sciences. Sir Rodney Riddell, the fourth and last Baronet, was a distinguished professional soldier who campaigned in New Zealand and during the Afghan War of 1878 to 1880. He died in 1907 and the title became extinct on his death.
