After the wars concluded, the new country of Croatia sought Jadran ' s return from rump Yugoslavia, which consisted of only the former Yugoslav republics of Serbia and Montenegro, Tivat being in the territory of the latter. This request was refused. The ship undertook its first training cruise to Greece with the rump Yugoslav Navy in 1997.
