Founded in 1972, Five Towns College holds an Absolute Charter issued by the New York State Board of Regents. [2] The college's name comes from the original proposed campus, which was to be in Lawrence in southwestern Nassau County, New York, an area known as "The Five Towns". [citation needed] However, the college never opened in that location.

Karl-Anthony Towns Jr. (born November 15, 1995), nicknamed “KAT” [1], is a Dominican-American professional basketball player for the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats. Towns was named to the Dominican Republic national team as a 16-year-old.
