The Rome–Lido railway, branded as Metromare, is an urban railway line connecting the Porta San Paolo Station in Rome to Lido di Ostia, Rome's seaside neighborhood. The railway is 28.3 km (17.6 mi) long, stops at 13 stations and carries on average over 90,000 passengers per day.
The station was opened on 7 October 1902 as part of the extension of line 2 from Étoile to Anvers. The name is that of one of several streets in the area named for European capitals, in this case Rue de Rome, capital of Italy. Some of these streets having also given their patronym to the stations such as Europe on line 3 and Liège on the line 13.
The station is located near the Paris-Saint-Lazare station, with eight platforms serving four lines. The platforms for Line 3 are located under the Cour de Rome, along the northeast / southeast axis of Rue de Rome, just above the tunnel for Line 13.
As Paris hosts the 2024 Olympic Games, the city is opening three beaches in its center, bringing a taste of St. Tropez and Nice to more northerly, urban shores.
