Golden Village's first cinema opened in Singapore on 28 May 1992, with the opening of the Yishun complex. In 1998, Golden Village opened GV Grand at Great World City, with six screens, including a Gold Class Hall. In the early 2000s, one of the halls was converted into an IMAX theatre, but it closed in 2004 due to low patronage.
