Unlike birdcages, aviaries allow birds a larger living space where they can fly; hence, aviaries are also sometimes known as flight cages or bird cages in some places in the United Kingdom.
The enclosure is built on a concrete slab on the ground, measuring 4.2-by-3.7-metre (14 by 12 ft) half-height concrete walls with timber-framed walls and roof above. Birdwire and woven wire mesh is located above the concrete walls. The structure has a super-6 corrugated asbestos cement roof with some translucent sheeting and wire mesh panels.
