The programme starts as the library closes at 5pm. At the stroke of midnight, Jackson and Jelly (pink and green puppets who live in the library and hide in the daytime) come out and are joined by a presenter (one of the members of the Wordsworth family) who recites "The sun is down, the stars are bright, Story Makers come out at night.” as they appear.

Michael Shaun Offei (born 4 October 1966) is an English actor. He is best known for starring in the CBeebies children's television show The Story Makers , a role he took up in 2002. [ 1 ]
The four episodes focused, as the title suggests, on Greek mythology, and took place in the Minotaur's labyrinth, which the new storyteller and his dog wander through looking for a way out, and uncover some of its secret treasures and artefacts — which reminds to tell a story of its own — along the way.

Sploshy the Starfish (voiced by Maria Darling) is the Rubbadubbers' silly mischief-maker. She has suction cups behind every one of her five arms, is dark reddish-pink at the front and yellow at the back, speaks with a childish English accent, is energetic (she is often seen cartwheeling) and is known to have a hot and short temper.
