Gaddi Baithak is a neoclassical palace in Kathmandu Durbar Square. [1] It was built by Chandra Shumsher Jang Bahadur Rana in 1908, and it was used for to coronations and to welcome head of states from other countries. Durbar Square or royal Squares in English, is the generic name that refers to the plazas and areas opposite the old royal palaces in Nepal.The name comes from Persian دربار ().
It is one of the three Durbar (royal palace) Squares in the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal that are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. [ 1 ] Although the construction of the square began in the 3rd century, the major structures within it were added in later periods.
