Williamson County is a county in the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 United States census , the population was 247,726. [ 2 ] The county seat is Franklin , [ 3 ] and the county is located in Middle Tennessee .
Beechwood Hall was the manor house of one of the three largest plantations in Williamson, prior to the American Civil War. It had more than 1,000 acres (400 ha) in area, and had many enslaved people laboring on it. The mansion's original owners were Sophronia Hunter Mayberry and Henry George Washington Mayberry.
The property was listed on the National Register in 1988 study of Williamson County historical resources, which described the house as "imposing" and as one of the most finely crafted residences in the College Grove area. [2] A c. 1830 log structure survived nearby, but off the property, in 1988. [3]
When listed the property included one contributing building and one non-contributing building, on 1.1 acres (0.45 ha). [1] The property's listing is identified by the National Register as consistent with historic resource standards covered in a 1988 study of Williamson County historical resources. [2] [1]
