Good & Plenty was first produced by the Quaker City Chocolate & Confectionery Company of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1893. [2] Although Necco Wafers is almost half a century older, Good & Plenty is the oldest continually produced American candy brand. [3] A second candy, Good & Fruity, is a multicolored, multi-flavor candy of the same shape.
In 2018, Necco declared bankruptcy. The original plant closed [11] and their candy brands were sold off. The rights to Sweethearts were acquired by Spangler Candy Company. [12] With the purchase of the brand by Spangler, Sweethearts were unavailable for Valentine's Day 2019 as Spangler set up production of the confections in a new plant. [13]
Andes Chocolate Mints. Andes Chocolate Mints are small rectangular candies. The crème de menthe variety consists of one mint-green layer sandwiched in between two cocoa based chocolate flavored layers. The candies are usually wrapped in green foil and imprinted with the company's logo, the word Andes written amidst a drawing of snow-capped peaks.
