The Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET) is situated in Gazipur District, approximately 40 km (25 mi) north of Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. It is about 20 km (12 mi) away from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Gazipur is well-connected by roads and railways with Dhaka and other major cities of Bangladesh.
Established in 1968 as the Chittagong Engineering College and gained autonomous graduate school status in 2003, this university is a state funded institution, maintaining special emphasis on teaching and research of engineering, technology, architecture and planning under five faculties and seventeen academic departments.

BAUET provides laboratories for the engineering and non-engineering departments. Each department has sufficient laboratories and classrooms. Classrooms are equipped with projectors and touchscreen interactive smart boards, the first of its kind in Bangladesh.
