Edmonson is located in northern Hale County at (34.281695, –101.900998 Texas State Highway 194 runs through the town, leading southeast 13 miles (21 km) to Plainview, the county seat, and northwest 30 miles (48 km) to Dimmitt.
The oldest continuous site still inhabited by a county courthouse is in Liberty County, where its courthouse has stood—although rebuilt—since 1831. District 24 of the Texas Senate is a senatorial district that currently serves all of Bandera, Bell, Burnet, Coryell, Gillespie, Kerr, Kimble, Lampasas, Llano, Medina, and Sutton counties and portions of Atascosa and Williamson counties in the U.S. state of Texas. [1] The current senator from District 24 is Pete Flores.
Giddings became the county seat when Lee County was established in 1874. Early businesses included the Granger store, a blacksmith shop and saloon, a millinery shop, a saddle and harness shop, and an oil mill. Brick buildings came in 1875. The courthouse built in 1878 burned and was replaced in 1899.
