John Charles Walsham Reith, 1st Baron Reith (/ ˈ r iː θ /; 20 July 1889 – 16 June 1971) was a Scottish broadcasting executive who established the tradition of independent public service broadcasting in the United Kingdom.
General Sir John George Reith, KCB, CBE (born 17 November 1948) is a retired senior British Army officer who was the Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) from October 2004 to October 2007.

Baron Reith / ˈ r iː θ /, of Stonehaven in the County of Kincardine, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. [2] It was created in 1940 for Sir John Reith, the first Director-General of the BBC. His only son, the second Baron, disclaimed the peerage for life in 1972. Since 2016, the title is held by the latter's son, the third Baron.
Reith committed suicide in July 1960. AVCO Electronics was bought out by George Mealey in 1973 and renamed Cincinnati Electronics. In 1981 it was sold to GEC England. James Wright, eventually head of Ford division and the car and truck group. Retired in the early 1960s after a power struggle with executive John Dykstra.
