Buxton is drained by Little River and the Saco River. Bonny Eagle Pond is a 211-acre (0.85 km 2) body of water located in the northern part of the town. The town of Buxton was incorporated in 1772, having been settled for some time. Land for this church property was granted in 1761, and the congregation was ministered by Paul Coffin from 1762 until is death 60 years later in 1821. In the following year, this church was built to replace the old meetinghouse.
State Route 22 (SR 22) is a 19.4-mile (31.2 km) state highway located in southwestern Maine. It serves the western suburbs of Portland , running from SR 35 in Buxton east into the city, where it ends at SR 77 .

After passing through West Buxton, SR 112 turns towards the northeast and intersects SR 22. The road leaves Buxton and enters Gorham, Cumberland County. It continues northeast before coming to an intersection with SR 25. The two routes head southeast towards Gorham Center for about 1.7 miles (2.7 km) before reaching a roundabout.
