The plot follows Sandy and SpongeBob as they venture to Sandy's home state of Texas to save Bikini Bottom from an evil CEO. It is the first entry in a series of SpongeBob character spin-off films. The film was first conceived during a pitching session for ideas for The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run (2020).
In this episode, Sandy's family from Texas comes over to Bikini Bottom in a surprise visit to celebrate Christmas with her. It is the third SpongeBob episode animated through stop-motion instead of the usual 2D format, following " It's a SpongeBob Christmas! " and " The Legend of Boo-Kini Bottom ".
SpongeBob and Patrick go to Sandy's house to ask her to come to the Krusty Krab with them, but she tells them that she is leaving Bikini Bottom to go back to Texas. SpongeBob and Patrick mock Texas and Texans (largely mocking the intelligence of Texans), causing Sandy to chase them. The two lure Sandy back to the Krusty Krab, where the party is.
Disappointed that he lacks a famous relative, SpongeBob walks into the park where he observes a statue covered in poop and runs into Sandy, who reveals that her great-aunt named Rosie Cheeks was the first squirrel to discover oil in Texas. Feeling sorry for SpongeBob, Sandy takes him to a library.
