Matt Riser (born June 25, 1984) is an American college baseball coach and former player, who is the current head baseball coach of the Memphis Tigers. [1] [2] [3] He played college baseball at Pearl River Community College and Tulane from 2003–2006. He served as the head coach of the Southeastern Louisiana Lions (2014–2023).
In 1990, he won a Pulitzer Prize for Commentary for his 1989 columns, [8] [9] and the Baseball Writers' Association of America awarded him the J. G. Taylor Spink Award in 1987. Cited as an influence by countless sports journalists, [ 5 ] [ 10 ] [ 11 ] Murray was a fixture at the L.A. Times for 37 years.
