San Marcos (/ ˌ s æ n ˈ m ɑːr k ə s /) is a city and the county seat of Hays County, Texas, United States. The city is a part of the Greater Austin Metropolitan Area. San Marcos's limits extend into Caldwell and Guadalupe counties, as well. San Marcos is on the Interstate 35 corridor between Austin and San Antonio.
The highway runs in a mostly northern direction before turning into FM 1362 at an intersection with County Road 336. FM 2000 was designated on December 17, 1952, running from SH 21 northward to a point at a distance of 4.2 miles (6.8 km). The highway was extended further north to the community of Hix on May 6, 1964.
